野柳地質 公園 Yehliu Geopark in TAIWAN and its ethereal landscape are one of the famous wonders in the world. Most visitors from around the world would come to see it’s majestic rock formations.
Rocks in Yehliu Geopark are mainly made up of sedimentary rocks. According to studies, these rocks were formed from sea erosion on soft layers of rocks turning the solid ones to beautiful sea capes.
Getting to Yehliu
Address: 207, Taiwan, New Taipei City, Wanli District, 港東路167-1號
There are only 3 ways to get there. By Bus, Taxi or Uber but if you’re into a budget-friendly ride, I would recommend riding a Bus to Yehlui.
By Bus ( From Taipei Main Station )
Go to the Bus Station ( 9-min walk from Taipei Station ) in Jinqing Center.
Look for Bus Number 1815.
Duration of Trip: 1 hr. & 32 mins.
Fare: 98 TWD ( ₱162 )
Arriving at Yehliu
We arrived in Yehliu Bus Stop, Wanli District near the Fishing Pier. We noticed that most people living here are fishermen or seafood exporters of Taiwan.
Walking across Wanli District, you will notice the signboards leading to Yehliu Geopark. It takes a 9-minute walk to get there. It was slightly rainy and cloudy at that time so the road was quiet.
Seafood Restaurants
Most of the restaurants around serve seafood dishes. I actually love the seafood here. The place we went to eat was near the Yehliu Parking Lot.

It was a breathtaking view as we finally get to see this famous spot in Northern Taiwan.
Ethereal Rock Formations
There are a lot of rock formations in Yehliu such as Elephant Rock, Dragon rock, Sea Candles (燭台石),
Fairy Shoe (仙女鞋), etc..I was able to take a photo to some ( below ).
Ginger Rock
Mushroom Rock
Ice Cream Rocks
While walking around, I noticed these kinds of holes and there’s a number of them there. Be careful not to step into holes like this. It may seem small but it’s actually deep.
The Queen’s Head ( 女王頭 )
Meters away from the coast is the most iconic rock formation, “the Queen’s Head“, that looks like Queen Elizabeth. It was said to be 4000 years old and is considered the landmark of Yehliu. This has been the most anticipated spot from visitors since then.
You may have to fall in line to get a good shot with the Queen of Rocks.
It’s not only the rock formations that give beauty to Yehliu but also its majestic sea view from the coast.
It was such a wonderful experience to see the beauty of Yehliu Geopark. All I can say is that everything is ethereal. I am still in awe. I’ve never been to such a place before. Surely one of my most memorable trips to Northern Taiwan.
WOW!!! Breathtaking view!!! 🙂
